Ig κ chain Antibody (MEM-09) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 light chain antibody that detects Ig κ chain in human samples through various applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and flow cytometry (FCM). Ig κ chain plays a crucial role in the immune response by forming part of the immunoglobulin structure, which is essential for the recognition and binding of antigens. Ig κ chain is primarily located in the cytoplasm of B cells, where synthesis and assembly with heavy chains form functional antibodies. The presence of Ig κ chain is vital for proper formation of the antibody′s Y-shaped structure, which allows for effective antigen binding and subsequent immune activation. The ability of B cells to produce antibodies with diverse specificities is largely attributed to the rearrangement of immunoglobulin genes, and the expression of either κ or λ light chains is a key determinant in this process. Notably, the exclusive expression of a single light chain type in individual B cells ensures the production of antibodies with unique antigen-binding sites, thereby enhancing the specificity and efficacy of the immune response. Anti-Ig κ chain antibody (MEM-09) serves as an invaluable tool for researchers studying B cell function, antibody diversity, and the overall mechanisms of the immune system.
