IFN-αR1 Antibody (MAR1-5A3) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects the IFN-αR1 protein of mouse origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and flow cytometry (FCM). Anti-IFN-αR1 antibody (MAR1-5A3) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. IFN-αR1 plays a crucial role in the immune response by serving as a receptor for type I interferons, which are vital for mediating antiviral activity and regulating immune responses. Specifically, IFN-αR1 is involved in the binding and signaling of interferon-α and interferon-β, which are essential for the activation of immune cells and the establishment of an antiviral state in tissues. IFN-αR1′s ability to interact with the cytoplasmic tyrosine kinase JAK1 is particularly important, as this interaction facilitates the downstream signaling pathways that lead to the expression of interferon-stimulated genes, thereby enhancing the host′s defense against viral infections. Additionally, the presence of splice variants of IFN-αR1, such as IFN-αR1a, highlights the complexity of regulation and function in different cellular contexts. IFN-αR1 monoclonal antibody (MAR1-5A3) serves as an invaluable tool for researchers studying the mechanisms of immune signaling and the role of interferons in disease.

Can IFN-αR1 (MAR1-5A3): sc-53591 monoclonal antibody be used in IF or IHC with mouse tissue or cells? Will there be non-specific staining?

Asked by: Randy McDonald
Thank you for your inquiry. The use of mouse monoclonal antibodies with mouse samples is very common and typically poses no problem. To eliminate any potential cross-reactivity of an anti-mouse secondary detection reagent, IFN-αR1 (MAR1-5A3): sc-53591 is available in a variety of direct conjugations, such as HRP, PE, FITC and AlexaFluors.
