IFN-αR1 Antibody (MAR1-5A3) is a high quality monoclonal IFN- alpha R1 antibody (also designated IFN-αR1 antibody) suitable for the detection of the IFN- alpha R1 protein of mouse origin. IFN-αR1 Antibody (MAR1-5A3) is available as both the non-conjugated anti-IFN- alpha R1 antibody form, as well as multiple conjugated forms of anti-IFN- alpha R1 antibody, including agarose, HRP, PE, FITC and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. The type I interferons (IFNs), α and β, are a group of structurally and functionally related proteins that are induced by either viruses or double stranded RNA and defined by their ability to confer an antiviral state in cells. The α and β IFNs appear to compete with one another for binding to a common cell surface receptor, while immune IFN (IFNγ) binds to a distinct receptor. The latter protein, IFN-αR, is only weakly responsive to type I interferons in contrast to IFN-α/βR, which binds to and responds effectively to IFN-β and to several of the IFN-α subtypes. Moreover, IFN-α/βR is physically associated with the cytoplasmic tyrosine kinase JAK1 and thus, in addition to ligand binding, appears to be functionally involved in signal transduction. IFN-αR1 is a receptor for IFN-α/β and is present as the full chain (IFN-αR1a) and as a splice-variant (IFN-αR1). The IFN-γ receptor complex consists of an alpha subunit (IFN-γRα) and a beta subunit that is 332 amino acids in length (mouse) and 337 amino acids in length (human).

Can IFN-αR1 (MAR1-5A3): sc-53591 monoclonal antibody be used in IF or IHC with mouse tissue or cells? Will there be non-specific staining?

Thank you for your inquiry. The use of mouse monoclonal antibodies with mouse samples is very common and typically poses no problem. To eliminate any potential cross-reactivity of an anti-mouse secondary detection reagent, IFN-αR1 (MAR1-5A3): sc-53591 is available in a variety of direct conjugations, such as HRP, PE, FITC and AlexaFluors.

Tested on HFFF by FACSThis antibody was tested on HFFF cells by FACS and did not show a signal, even at dilution 1:25. Therefore, it does not cross react with human IFN-aR1
