SEE ALSO...

HXK I Antibody (G-1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects HXK I of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). HXK I (G-1) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. HXK I plays a crucial role in glucose metabolism, catalyzing the conversion of glucose to glucose-6-phosphate, which is the first step in the glycolytic pathway. This enzymatic activity is vital for cellular energy production and metabolic regulation, particularly in tissues with high energy demands such as the brain, heart, and kidneys, where HXK I is predominantly expressed. The regulation of glucose metabolism by HXK I is essential for maintaining glucose homeostasis, and dysfunction can lead to metabolic disorders, including diabetes. Additionally, HXK I is one of four hexokinase isoenzymes, each with distinct regulatory properties and tissue distributions, highlighting the importance of HXK I in the broader context of glucose metabolism and its implications for health and disease.
