HVEM Antibody (122) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects HVEM (herpes virus entry mediator A) in human samples through applications such as immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and flow cytometry (FCM). HVEM, also known as TR2, ATAR, HVEA, LIGHTR, or TNFRSF14, is a 283 amino acid single-pass type I membrane protein predominantly expressed in the lung, spleen, and thymus. As a member of the tumor necrosis factor receptor superfamily, HVEM plays a pivotal role in the entry of herpes simplex virus (HSV) types 1 and 2 into T lymphocytes by acting as a receptor for the viral envelope glycoprotein D (gD). Additionally, HVEM interacts with two important cellular ligands, secreted lymphotoxin and LIGHT, the latter being a member of the TNF superfamily produced by activated T-cells, which is implicated in inducing apoptosis and suppressing tumor formation. The structure of HVEM, characterized by three TNFR-Cys repeats, is crucial for mediating viral entry and modulating immune responses, highlighting HVEM′s significance in both viral pathogenesis and potential therapeutic applications. HVEM is encoded by a gene located on human chromosome 1, which spans 260 million base pairs and contains over 3,000 genes, representing nearly 8% of the human genome. Anti-HVEM antibody (122) is an essential tool for researchers studying the intricate mechanisms of viral infections and immune regulation.
