    SEE ALSO...

HSV-2 Antibody (12.3.4/1.1.1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa/2a light chain antibody that detects HSV-2 protein of Herpes Simplex Virus 2 origin by immunofluorescence (IF). Anti-HSV-2 antibody (12.3.4/1.1.1) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. HSV-2 protein plays a crucial role in establishing and maintaining latent infections within sensory ganglia, particularly in the sacral ganglion at the base of the spine. This location allows viral evasion of host immune response, remaining dormant in nerve cells until reactivation occurs, which can lead to recurrent infections. HSV-2 can be shed from the skin even when no symptoms are present, contributing to transmission and making HSV-2 a public health concern. HSV-2′s structure includes a large double-stranded DNA genome encased in an icosahedral nucleocapsid, surrounded by a lipid bilayer envelope and an amorphous layer of proteins known as the tegument. Understanding HSV-2 protein function and location is essential for developing effective therapeutic strategies and vaccines against herpes simplex virus infections.
