HMGCL Antibody (63Z) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects HMGCL protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). HMGCL, or 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-Coenzyme A lyase, is a crucial mitochondrial matrix protein that plays a significant role in leucine catabolism and ketone body synthesis, particularly during fasting when ketone bodies serve as a vital energy source for the heart, brain, and kidneys. HMGCL exists as a homodimer and catalyzes the final step in the metabolic pathway, cleaving 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl CoA into acetoacetic acid and acetyl CoA.
