HM74, also known as PUMAG or Puma-g, is a member of the G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) superfamily, specifically functioning as a G(i) protein-coupled receptor that mediates the metabolic effects of nicotinic acid. This receptor is predominantly localized to the cell membrane, where HM74 plays a crucial role in regulating lipid metabolism and energy homeostasis, making HM74 significant in the context of metabolic disorders.
