    SEE ALSO...

Hippi Antibody (D-6) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Hippi protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Hippi (D-6) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Hippi protein, also known as Hip-1 protein interactor, plays a crucial role in the regulation of programmed neuronal cell death, a process significantly implicated in neurodegenerative disorders such as Alzheimer′s and Huntington′s disease. Specifically, Hippi protein interacts with huntingtin (Htt), a protein whose polyglutamine expansions are associated with the pathogenesis of Huntington′s disease. The interaction between Hippi and Hip-1 forms a pro-apoptotic complex that recruits procaspase-8, leading to the activation of caspase-8 and subsequent neuronal apoptosis. This mechanism highlights Hippi′s importance in mediating cell death pathways that contribute to neurodegeneration. The human hippi gene is located on chromosome 3q13.13 and encodes a protein consisting of 429 amino acids, underscoring Hippi′s significance in cellular processes and potential as a therapeutic target in neurodegenerative diseases.

Can Hippi (D-6): sc-390120 monoclonal antibody be used to stain formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue sections?

    Asked by: Germaine
Thank you for your question. Yes, Hippi (D-6): sc-390120 has been validated for use in IHC with paraffin-embedded sections. We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining
