HIBADH Antibody (D-11) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects HIBADH protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-HIBADH antibody (D-11) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. HIBADH (3-hydroxyisobutyrate dehydrogenase) is a crucial mitochondrial enzyme composed of 336 amino acids that plays a significant role in valine catabolism by catalyzing the NAD+-dependent reversible oxidation of 3-hydroxyisobutyrate to methylmalonate semialdehyde. This enzymatic activity maintains metabolic homeostasis, particularly in energy production and amino acid metabolism. HIBADH functions as a homodimer, exhibiting optimal activity at a pH range of 8.8 to 9.0, which supports mitochondrial function where pH levels can vary. While defects in HIBADH were once thought to contribute to 3-hydroxyisobutyric aciduria, a rare metabolic disorder, studies have shown that HIBADH activity remains consistent in affected individuals compared to healthy controls, highlighting the complexity of metabolic disorders and the need for further research.
