HHV-8 K8.1A/B Antibody (4A4) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects the HHV-8 K8.1A and B proteins of viral origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and immunofluorescence (IF). HHV-8 K8.1A/B (4A4) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. The HHV-8 K8.1 gene encodes two immunogenic glycoproteins, K8.1A and K8.1B, which are produced through a splicing event. K8.1A, the predominant form associated with the virion envelope, consists of 228 amino acids and features a cleavable signal sequence, a transmembrane domain, and multiple glycosylation sites, including four N-glycosylation sites and O-glycosylation sites. This protein plays a crucial role in the virus′s ability to attach to host cells, as K8.1A interacts with heparan sulfate molecules on the surface of target cells, facilitating viral entry and infection. K8.1B, on the other hand, is composed of 167 residues and shares a similar sequence with K8.1A but contains a 61-residue in-frame deletion, resulting in only three N-glycosylation sites and the absence of O-glycosylation sites. The differential glycosylation patterns and structural variations between K8.1A and K8.1B may influence their respective roles in viral pathogenesis and immune evasion, making anti-HHV-8 K8.1A/B antibody (4A4) an essential tool for studying the biology of HHV-8 and its associated diseases.
