HHV-8 K14 Antibody (OX112) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects HHV-8 K14 of viral species reactivity by flow cytometry (FCM). HHV-8 K14 plays a crucial role in the pathogenesis of Kaposi′s sarcoma-associated herpesvirus, particularly during the lytic cycle when expressed on the surfaces of infected cells. HHV-8 K14 interacts with human CD200R, a receptor found on myeloid cells essential for regulating macrophage activation in the local microenvironment. HHV-8 K14′s ability to mimic CD200 activity, sharing 40% sequence identity with CD200, allows viral inhibition of tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNFα) production, thereby restraining macrophage activation. This mechanism is vital for viral evasion of the host immune response, contributing to the development of associated diseases such as multicentric Castleman′s disease and primary effusion lymphoma.
