Hep C cAg Antibody (C7-50) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects the Hep C cAg protein of Hepatitis C Virus origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and flow cytometry (FCM). Hep C cAg monoclonal antibody (C7-50) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. The Hepatitis C virus, a small, enveloped, single-stranded, positive-sense RNA virus belonging to the Flaviviridae family, primarily replicates within hepatocytes in the liver, where Hepatitis C virus binds to specific receptors on the cell surface to gain entry. This localization is crucial as Hepatitis C virus exploits the liver′s cellular machinery for replication, leading to the production of approximately one trillion viral particles daily in infected individuals. The high mutation rate of Hepatitis C, resulting from the lack of proofreading capability in RNA polymerase, enables Hepatitis C virus to evade the host′s immune response, contributing to chronic infections that can progress to liver cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma. Hep C cAg is highly conserved across different viral genotypes and plays a significant role in hepatic fibrogenesis by up-regulating connective tissue growth factor and transforming growth factor beta 1, highlighting Hep C cAg′s importance in the pathology of Hepatitis C infection.
