HAI-2 Antibody (H-9) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects HAI-2 of mouse and rat origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). HAI-2 (H-9) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. HAI-2 plays a crucial role in regulating the activity of hepatocyte growth factor activator (HGFAC), which is essential for tissue repair following damage, such as hepatic and renal injury. HGFAC is initially produced as an inactive single-chain precursor that undergoes limited proteolytic activation, a process that is tightly controlled by specific inhibitors known as HGF activator inhibitors (HAIs). These inhibitors, which include HAI-2, belong to the Kunitz-type serine protease inhibitor family and are vital for maintaining the balance of proteolytic activation of HGF in injured tissues. The human HAI-2 gene, located on chromosome 19q13.1, encodes a 252 amino acid protein that is expressed in various tissues, including the placenta, kidney, pancreas, prostate, and small intestine, as well as in fetal kidney and lung. HAI-2 is produced in both membrane-associated and secreted forms, with the latter being active, proteolytically truncated proteins that contribute to the regulation of HGF activity, highlighting HAI-2′s importance in cellular responses to injury and repair mechanisms.
