H6PD Antibody (C-10) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects H6PD protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-H6PD antibody (C-10) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. H6PD protein, also known as hexose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase, is a crucial enzyme composed of 789 amino acids, encoded by the human gene H6PD. H6PD plays a vital role in cellular metabolism by catalyzing the conversion of glucose-6-phosphate to 6-phosphogluconolactone within the endoplasmic reticulum, a process that generates reduced nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate (NADPH). This cofactor is essential for the activity of 11β-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase type 1, which is responsible for converting inactive cortisone into active hormone cortisol, thereby influencing various physiological processes, including stress response and metabolism. The unique structural features of H6PD, with its N-terminal section belonging to the glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase family and the C-terminal section to the glucosamine/galactosamine-6-phosphate isomerase family, underscore its bifunctional nature and highlight its importance in maintaining cellular redox balance and steroid hormone regulation.
