SEE ALSO...

GP78 Antibody (3D9) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects GP78 protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-GP78 antibody (3D9) is available as the non-conjugated format. GP78, also known as autocrine motility factor receptor, plays a crucial role in cancer biology through interactions with tumor-secreted cytokine autocrine motility factor (AMF), which promotes tumor cell motility and metastasis. This interaction is particularly significant in gastric cancer, where GP78 expression on cell surfaces correlates with pathological stage and tumor invasion grade. GP78 shows unique distribution patterns - evenly distributed across normal cell membranes but localized to leading and trailing edges of carcinoma cells, highlighting GP78′s role in directional movement during cancer progression. GP78 functions as a RING finger-dependent ubiquitin protein ligase (E3) in the endoplasmic reticulum, recruiting UBC7, an ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme (E2), suggesting links between metastasis and ubiquitin-mediated protein degradation. Alternative splicing of GP78 mRNA produces two distinct isoforms, type I membrane protein and integral membrane protein, potentially having different functional roles in cellular processes. GP78 and AMF interaction studies enhance cancer biology understanding while revealing potential therapeutic intervention targets.
