golgin 84 Antibody (D-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects golgin 84 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-golgin 84 antibody (D-5) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Golgin 84, also known as GOLGA5 (Golgi autoantigen, subfamily A, member 5), RFG5 (RET-fused gene 5 protein), or GOLIM5, is a crucial single-pass type II coiled-coil membrane protein that is ubiquitously expressed and primarily localized to the Golgi apparatus, particularly on membranes at the cis side of the Golgi stack. This localization is vital for maintaining Golgi structure and facilitating the formation of Golgi stacks and ribbons, which are essential for proper protein processing and trafficking. The depletion of golgin 84 results in fragmentation of the Golgi ribbon and a significant reduction in the efficiency of protein transport, highlighting its critical role in cellular function. Furthermore, golgin 84 interacts with active Rab 1 and associates with CASP (an isoform of CDP) within a golgin-tethering complex, which is believed to be involved in intra-Golgi retrograde transport. Notably, during mitosis, golgin 84 undergoes extensive phosphorylation, and chromosomal translocations involving the gene encoding golgin 84 have been linked to various cancer tissues, producing chimeric proteins such as Ret-II and PTC5 that may contribute to tumorigenesis.
