SEE ALSO...

Golgi Marker Antibody (AE-6) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects the Golgi Marker protein of human origin by immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and flow cytometry (FCM). Golgi Marker (AE-6) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Golgi Marker protein plays a crucial role in cellular processing and trafficking of proteins and lipids, making Golgi Marker protein essential for maintaining cellular homeostasis and function. Located within the Golgi apparatus, Golgi Marker protein is involved in modification, sorting, and packaging of macromolecules synthesized in the endoplasmic reticulum before dispatching to final destinations, either inside or outside the cell. Golgi apparatus is structured as a series of flattened, membrane-bound sacs known as cisternae, organized into three functional regions: cis face, medial region, and trans face. Each region contains specific enzymes that facilitate post-translational modifications necessary for protein maturation, such as glycosylation and phosphorylation, which are vital for stability and activity. Golgi apparatus is particularly prominent in secretory cells, such as plasma B cells, where Golgi Marker protein is responsible for antibody production. Understanding Golgi apparatus dynamics and markers is critical for researchers studying cellular processes, disease mechanisms, and therapeutic targets.

Which Golgi protein/s does this antibody target? I am working a cell line in which a key Golgi protein is deleted and this deletion affects several other proteins.

Can Golgi Marker (AE-6): sc-58770 monoclonal antibody be used in IF or IHC with mouse tissue or cells? Will there be non-specific staining?

Asked by: cjMara
Thank you for your inquiry. The use of mouse monoclonal antibodies with mouse samples is very common and typically poses no problem. To eliminate any potential cross-reactivity of an anti-mouse secondary detection reagent, Golgi Marker (AE-6): sc-58770 is available in a variety of direct conjugations, such as HRP, PE, FITC and AlexaFluors.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good antibodyUsed this antibody for immunofluorescence in HEK 293 cells- produced weak but detectable perinuclear-cytoplasmic punctae-like staining when used at 1:20 dilution. Staining was not too strong and so was detectable only on a good confocal microscope and not regular fluorescence microscope.
