GNMT Antibody (A-4) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects glycine N-methyltransferase (GNMT) of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). GNMT (A-4) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Glycine N-methyltransferase is a 295 amino acid protein that plays a vital role in the methylation of glycine, utilizing S-adenosylmethionine (AdoMet) to produce N-methylglycine (sarcosine) while generating S-adenosylhomocysteine (AdoHcy) as a byproduct. GNMT (A-4) monoclonal antibody supports research into enzymatic activity crucial for regulating tissue concentration of AdoMet, a key metabolite involved in hepatocyte growth, differentiation, and apoptosis. AdoMet biosynthesis occurs in all mammalian cells and is the first step in methionine catabolism, catalyzed by methionine adenosyltransferase (MAT). Decreased hepatic AdoMet biosynthesis is associated with chronic liver injury, leading to conditions such as spontaneous steatohepatitis and hepatocellular carcinoma. Mutations in GNMT can impair AdoMet metabolism, contributing to liver injury.
