GMEB-1 Antibody (LL-18) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a antibody that recognizes GMEB-1 (Glucocorticoid modulatory element-binding protein 1) in human samples through various applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). GMEB-1 is a 573 amino acid protein characterized by one SAND domain and belongs to the KDWK family of combinatorial transcription modulators. GMEB-1 maintains dual localization in both cytoplasm and nucleus, forming a heterodimer with GMEB-2 to facilitate parvovirus DNA replication. GMEB-1 functions as a trans-acting factor that enhances cellular sensitivity to glucocorticoids by binding to glucocorticoid modulatory elements in promoters of genes such as TAT (tyrosine aminotransferase). GMEB-1 also interacts with initiator procaspases to inhibit caspase-induced apoptosis, highlighting a crucial role in cellular survival mechanisms. Due to alternative splicing, GMEB-1 exists in two isoforms, adding complexity to its functional roles in cellular processes.
