glypican-4 Antibody (AT51E3) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects the glypican-4 protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunofluorescence (IF), flow cytometry (FCM), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-glypican-4 antibody (AT51E3) is available as a non-conjugated format. Glypican-4, also known as K-glypican, is a 556 amino acid cell surface proteoglycan that plays a crucial role in the development of the central nervous system and the formation of kidney tubules. Glypican-4 is anchored to the cell membrane via a glycosylphosphatidylinositol moiety and is involved in regulating cell growth and division through interaction with various signaling molecules. Notably, glypican-4 is implicated in the modulation of fibroblast growth factor 2 (FGF-2) activity during cortical neurogenesis, highlighting its importance in neural development. Following proteolytic cleavage, glypican-4 is released into the extracellular space, where glypican-4 can influence cellular signaling pathways. The gene encoding glypican-4 is located on human chromosome Xq26.2 and mouse chromosome X A5, and glypican-4 deletion has been associated with Simpson-Golabi-Behmel syndrome, an X-linked condition that shares clinical features with Beckwith-Wiedemann syndrome. This makes glypican-4 not only a significant marker for research but also a potential target for understanding developmental disorders.
