Glycophorin A/B Antibody (HIR2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b antibody that detects Glycophorin A/B in human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and flow cytometry (FCM). Anti-Glycophorin A/B antibody (HIR2) is available in both conjugated and non-conjugated forms, providing versatility for various experimental needs. Glycophorin A and B are integral sialoglycoproteins located in the human erythrocyte membrane, playing a crucial role in defining blood group phenotypes through their antigenic determinants for the MN, Ss, and Gerbich blood groups. The structure of these proteins spans the membrane once, with their amino-terminal ends exposed to the extracellular environment, facilitating interactions with other molecules and cells. The human Glycophorin A gene, located on chromosome 4q31.21, consists of 7 exons and encodes a 150 amino acid protein that is 97% homologous to Glycophorin B, which encodes a 91 amino acid protein. Glycophorin C, another member of this family, is encoded by a gene on chromosome 2q14.3 and can produce two protein isoforms, further contributing to the complexity of blood group antigen expression. Understanding the structure and function of these glycophorins is essential for blood transfusion compatibility and the study of hematological disorders, making Glycophorin A/B monoclonal antibody (HIR2) a valuable tool in both clinical and research settings.

How can Glycophorin A/B (HIR2): sc-51603 mouse monoclonal antibody be used for double or triple staining, if the other primary antibodies are also raised in mouse?

    Asked by: DefinitelyNotMatt
In this case, we recommend using a directly conjugated mouse monoclonal primary antibody. This antibody is available conjugated to phycoerythrin (sc-51603 PE) or fluoroscein (sc-51603 FITC).
