Glycophorin A/B Antibody (5F60) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b antibody that detects Glycophorin A/B protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and flow cytometry (FCM). Anti-Glycophorin A/B antibody (5F60) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including phycoerythrin (PE). Glycophorin A and B are integral sialoglycoproteins located in the human erythrocyte membrane, playing a crucial role in defining blood group phenotypes through their antigenic determinants for the MN, Ss, and Gerbich blood groups. These proteins span the membrane once, with their amino-terminal ends exposed to the extracellular environment, which is vital for their interaction with other cells and proteins in the bloodstream. The Glycophorin A gene, located on chromosome 4q31.21, consists of seven exons and encodes a 150 amino acid protein that is 97% homologous to Glycophorin B, which encodes a 91 amino acid protein. The presence of these glycoproteins not only contributes to the structural integrity of red blood cells but also influences their interactions with pathogens and immune cells, making them significant in transfusion medicine and understanding blood group-related diseases. Glycophorin A/B (5F60) monoclonal antibody is an essential tool for researchers studying erythrocyte biology and blood group antigen expression.
