GLDC Antibody (H-9) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects GLDC protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). GLDC (H-9) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. GLDC protein, also known as glycine dehydrogenase, is a crucial component of the glycine cleavage system, which is essential for the catabolism of glycine, a key amino acid involved in numerous metabolic processes. GLDC protein is located in the mitochondria and functions as a homodimer, utilizing pyridoxal phosphate as a cofactor to facilitate the transfer of the methylamine group from glycine to the associated protein T. Proper functioning of GLDC protein is vital, as mutations in the gene encoding GLDC can lead to nonketotic hyperglycinemia (NKH), a serious autosomal recessive disorder characterized by the accumulation of glycine in body fluids and severe neurological symptoms. Anti-GLDC antibody (H-9) effectively detects and quantifies GLDC across different species, making this antibody an invaluable tool for research into metabolic disorders and mitochondrial function.

Can GLDC (H-9): sc-376196 monoclonal antibody be used to stain formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue sections?

Asked by: Cweed
Thank you for your question. Yes, GLDC (H-9): sc-376196 has been validated for use in IHC with paraffin-embedded sections. We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining
