GIGYF2 Antibody (G-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b antibody that detects GIGYF2 in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). GIGYF2, also known as GRB10 interacting GYF protein 2, PERQ2, PERQ3, PARK11, or TNRC15, is a 1,299 amino acid protein that plays a crucial role in regulating tyrosine kinase receptor signaling, particularly for insulin and IGF-I receptors. This regulation is vital for maintaining cellular homeostasis and metabolic functions, as dysregulation can lead to various diseases, including metabolic disorders and neurodegenerative conditions. Notably, mutations in the gene encoding GIGYF2 are implicated in Parkinson disease type 11 (PARK11), which manifests through symptoms such as bradykinesia, resting tremor, muscular rigidity, and postural instability, highlighting GIGYF2′s significance in neuronal health. GIGYF2 is characterized by long stretches of glutamine and glutamic acid residues and exists as two alternatively spliced isoforms, which may contribute to functional diversity. GIGYF2′s presence in the substantia nigra and association with the formation of Lewy bodies in surviving neurons further underscores GIGYF2′s importance in neurobiology and the pathophysiology of Parkinson′s disease.
