GIGYF2 Antibody (A-12) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects GIGYF2 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). GIGYF2 Antibody (A-12) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. GIGYF2, also known as GRB10 interacting GYF protein 2, GYF2, PERQ2, PERQ3, PARK11, or TNRC15, is a 1,299 amino acid protein that plays a crucial role in regulating tyrosine kinase receptor signaling, particularly for insulin-like growth factor 1 and insulin receptors. This regulation is vital for maintaining cellular homeostasis and metabolic functions, as dysregulation can lead to various diseases, including metabolic disorders and cancer. GIGYF2 is part of the PERQ family of proteins and features long stretches of glutamine and glutamic acid residues, which may influence interactions and functional properties. Notably, mutations in the GIGYF2 gene are implicated in Parkinson disease type 11 (PARK11), a neurodegenerative disorder characterized by bradykinesia, resting tremor, muscular rigidity, and postural instability, resulting from the loss of dopaminergic neurons in the substantia nigra. The presence of Lewy bodies, which are aggregates of misfolded proteins, further complicates the pathology of this disease. GIGYF2 exists as two alternatively spliced isoforms, adding another layer of complexity to functional roles in cellular signaling and disease mechanisms.

What application is the blocking peptide sc-393918 P appropriate for?

Asked by: Randy McDonald
Thank you for your question. The blocking peptide is intended for use as a negative control, by pre-adsorbing the mouse monoclonal antibody against the antigen. For full protocol details, please contact our Technical Services Department or view our online protocol here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/peptide-neutralization
