    SEE ALSO...

GIF Antibody (D-6) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects GIF protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). GIF Antibody (D-6) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. GIF protein, or gastric intrinsic factor, is a 417 amino acid secreted glycoprotein produced by the parietal cells of the stomach, playing a crucial role in vitamin B12 absorption. When vitamin B12 binds to GIF protein, absorption occurs in the terminal ileum through the receptor cubilin, which is essential for maintaining adequate nutrient levels. Vitamin B12 is necessary for red blood cell formation and proper nervous system functioning, as this vitamin participates in DNA component synthesis, particularly thymine. GIF deficiency can lead to pernicious anemia, an autoimmune condition destroying parietal cells and causing vitamin B12 malabsorption, resulting in megaloblastic anemia characterized by large, immature, and dysfunctional red blood cells. Hereditary intrinsic factor deficiency, caused by GIF gene defects, also leads to megaloblastic anemia, highlighting GIF protein′s importance in overall health and nutrient absorption.

What application is the blocking peptide sc-514523 P appropriate for?

    Asked by: Professor Griffin
Thank you for your question. The blocking peptide is intended for use as a negative control, by pre-adsorbing the mouse monoclonal antibody against the antigen. For full protocol details, please contact our Technical Services Department or view our online protocol here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/peptide-neutralization

Rated 1 out of 5 by from IHC for TNBC, nuclear localizationI got a sample for testing this antibody for IHC. Signal is clearly shown in nucleus. But GIF is known to be mainly localized to plasma membrane, lysosome, and endosome. Eventhough this antibody can make strong signal, I would not recommend this for IHC staining
