SEE ALSO...

GGTase-Iβ Antibody (D-11) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects GGTase-I beta protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). GGTase-Iβ (D-11) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. GGTase-I beta protein plays a crucial role in post-translational modification of proteins through geranylgeranylation, which is essential for proper functioning of several signaling pathways, including TGF-β1 signaling pathway. This modification occurs at C-terminal cysteine residues of target proteins containing a CAAX motif, where "A" represents an aliphatic amino acid and "X" is typically leucine. Geranylgeranylation process is vital for activation of Rab GTPases, which are key regulators of intracellular transport and membrane trafficking. By facilitating attachment of a 20-carbon geranylgeranyl group, GGTase-I ensures proteins are correctly localized within cells, thereby influencing various cellular processes such as growth, differentiation, and apoptosis. GGTase-I′s importance in these pathways highlights potential as a therapeutic target in diseases where these processes are dysregulated.
