Gas2 Antibody (F-12) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Gas2 of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Gas2 (F-12) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Gas2, consisting of 313 amino acids and encoded by the human gene GAS2, plays a crucial role in apoptosis by serving as a substrate for caspases, particularly caspase-3 and caspase-7, which cleave Gas2 at Asparagine 278 during programmed cell death. This cleavage leads to the rearrangement of the actin cytoskeleton, resulting in dramatic morphological changes in affected cells, which is essential for proper execution of apoptosis. Gas2 is involved in membrane ruffling, a process critical for cell movement and shape changes. During the G0-G1 transition phase, Gas2 can be phosphorylated on serine residues, influencing localization and function. As a cytoskeleton and peripheral membrane protein, Gas2 co-localizes with actin fibers at the cell border and along stress fibers in growth-arrested fibroblasts, and while mainly membrane-associated, hyperphosphorylation leads to accumulation at membrane ruffles. Gas2 is specifically expressed during growth arrest and found ubiquitously, with highest expression levels in liver, lung, and kidney, although absent in spleen.

What application is the blocking peptide sc-398669 P appropriate for?

Asked by: jerojero
Thank you for your question. The blocking peptide is intended for use as a negative control, by pre-adsorbing the mouse monoclonal antibody against the antigen. For full protocol details, please contact our Technical Services Department or view our online protocol here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/peptide-neutralization
