SEE ALSO...

Gα s Antibody (12) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody designed to detect the Gα s subunit, also known as Gs alpha. Gα s monoclonal antibody (12) targets an epitope comprising amino acids 11-21 of the human Gα s protein, ensuring precise and reliable binding. The Gα s protein is a crucial component of heterotrimeric G proteins, featuring a distinct α-helical domain and a GTP-binding domain that are essential for its role in signal transduction. The structured ability of Gα s to bind and hydrolyze GTP allows Gα s to relay signals from cell surface receptors to intracellular effectors such as adenylyl cyclase, thereby regulating important physiological processes like hormone signaling, metabolism, and cellular growth. The integrity of Gα s′s structure is vital for maintaining accurate cellular communication, as any structural alterations can disrupt signaling pathways and contribute to various diseases. anti-Gα s antibody (12) exhibits broad species reactivity, effectively recognizing Gα s from mouse, rat, and human origins, making this reagent an invaluable tool for cross-species research applications. Gα s monoclonal antibody (12) is compatible with western blotting (WB) and immunoprecipitation (IP), enabling detailed analysis of G protein-mediated pathways. Available in both conjugated and non-conjugated forms, Gα s (12) antibody offers flexibility to meet diverse experimental needs.

Does this antibody react with zebrafish Gαs? If not experimentally validated, what is the predicted reactivity against the zebrafish protein?

Asked by: Lulu97
Thank you for your question. Based on our tests with this product, Anti-Gα s Antibody (12): sc-135914 is only recommended for detection of Gα s of mouse, rat and human origin by WB and IP. We do not have any internal data to support reactivity in samples from zebrafish.

Hi, Is this MAb specific for Gα-s? because the description of MAb for Gα-olf says, it can recognize both forms s and olf and in our study, we need to identify which one of the two is involved, so specificity is very necessary.

Asked by: ASM25
Thank you for your question. The antibody was raised against amino acids 11-21 of G s of human origin. The exact binding region of this antibody within the antigen has not been mapped. This antibody has not been tested experimentally for potential cross-reactivity under denaturing conditions in a Western Blot or native conditions in IP against different proteins. You might want to align the antigen sequence against the protein form of interest in order to determine potential reactivity. based on the antigen sequence we do not expect relevant cross-reactivity against G -olf. Please contact our Technical Service by phone or email or by Live Chat if you have any further questions.

Can you recommend a positive control to use with Gα s (12): sc-135914 for Western blot?

Asked by: TinTin
We recommend Jurkat Whole Cell Lysate (sc-2204) or rat or mouse brain tissue extract (sc-2392 or sc-2253) as positive controls as we have Western blot data showing specific detection of Gα s in these samples.
