SEE ALSO...

GAD-67 Antibody (F-6) is a mouse monoclonal IgG3 kappa light chain antibody that detects GAD-67 in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). GAD-67 Antibody (F-6) is available in both conjugated and non-conjugated forms, providing flexibility for various experimental needs. GAD-67, also known as GAD1 or SCP, plays a crucial role in the synthesis of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), the primary inhibitory neurotransmitter in the brain. GAD-67 is essential for maintaining the balance of excitatory and inhibitory signals in the central nervous system, which is vital for normal brain function and preventing neurological disorders. Unlike GAD-65, which is localized to synaptic vesicle membranes in nerve terminals and activated during increased demand for GABA, GAD-67 is distributed throughout the cell and is responsible for the basal levels of GABA synthesis. Loss of GAD-67 can lead to severe consequences, including lethality, highlighting GAD-67′s importance in neurotransmission. Additionally, GAD-67 undergoes alternative splicing, resulting in two isoforms: the predominant GAD-67 form and the minor GAD-25 form, which is not expressed in the brain but can be found in various endocrine tissues. GAD-67 antibody (F-6) is an invaluable tool for researchers studying GABAergic signaling and its implications in neurobiology.
