SEE ALSO...

FOP Antibody (B-1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects FOP protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-FOP antibody (B-1) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. FOP protein, also known as FGFR1 oncogene partner, is a 399 amino acid protein that plays a crucial role in cellular organization by localizing to the centrosome, where FOP is essential for anchoring microtubules. This localization is vital for maintaining proper cell division and ensuring mitotic spindle stability, which is critical for accurate chromosome segregation during cell division. FOP is expressed ubiquitously, with highest levels found in kidney, heart, muscle, colon, liver, testis, and pancreas, and functions as a homodimer that interacts with proteins such as EB1 and CEP350. Chromosomal aberrations involving FOP have been linked to stem cell myeloproliferative disorder development, a condition characterized by eosinophilia and myeloid hyperplasia that can progress to acute myeloid leukemia. FOP is expressed as multiple isoforms due to alternative splicing, which may contribute to diverse functional roles in cellular processes.

Can FOP (B-1): sc-374340 monoclonal antibody be used to stain formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue sections?

Asked by: Randy McDonald
Thank you for your question. Yes, FOP (B-1): sc-374340 has been validated for use in IHC with paraffin-embedded sections. We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining
