Fis1 Antibody (B-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects Fis1 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Fis1 monoclonal antibody (B-5) is raised against amino acids 1-152 representing full length Fis1 of human origin. Anti-Fis1 antibody (B-5) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Fis1 protein is crucial for mitochondrial dynamics, specifically in mitochondrial fission, where Fis1 localizes to the outer mitochondrial membrane. This localization enables Fis1 to interact with dynamin-related protein 1 (Drp1), facilitating mitochondrial division, which is vital for maintaining cellular health and energy production. Fis1 interacts with Drp1 to facilitate mitochondrial fission and with mitochondrial fission factor (Mff) to regulate Drp1 recruitment to the outer mitochondrial membrane. The balance between mitochondrial fission and fusion is critical for regulating mitochondrial morphology and function, and disruptions in this balance can lead to various pathologies, including neurodegenerative diseases and cancer. Fis1 (B-5) antibody contains a C-terminal domain necessary for mitochondrial localization and an N-terminal domain essential for fission. Mitochondrial network fragmentation mediated by Fis1 can trigger cytochrome c release, leading to apoptosis, highlighting Fis1′s dual role in promoting cell survival and regulating programmed cell death.
