    SEE ALSO...

FGGY Antibody (C-9) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects FGGY protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). FGGY (C-9) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. FGGY protein, also known as FLJ10986, is a 551 amino acid member of the FGGY kinase family, which plays a crucial role in carbohydrate metabolism by phosphorylating sugars, facilitating their utilization in energy production and biosynthesis. This function links carbohydrate metabolism to energy homeostasis, impacting cellular functions and overall organismal health. FGGY is expressed in various tissues, including lung, kidney, small intestine, liver, and fetal brain, and is encoded by a gene located on chromosome 1. Mutations in FGGY have been associated with sporadic amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), a devastating neurodegenerative disorder that leads to progressive degeneration of motor neurons and ultimately results in fatal paralysis, typically within 2 to 5 years of diagnosis. FGGY′s location on chromosome 1, the largest human chromosome, highlights significance, as this chromosome harbors approximately 3,000 genes, many of which are implicated in various genetic diseases.
