Fer Antibody (5D2C4) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects Fer in mouse, rat, and human samples through western blotting (WB) and immunoprecipitation (IP) applications. Fer is a non-receptor protein-tyrosine kinase belonging to the Fes/Fps family, which is characterized by a unique functional SH2 domain and role in mediating signaling pathways associated with receptor tyrosine kinases and cytokine receptors. Fer forms homotrimers in vivo through conserved coiled-coil domains, which is crucial for regulatory functions. The N-terminal coiled-coil domains of Fer can undergo autophosphorylation in trans, allowing for modulation of cellular activities based on different phosphorylation states. This dynamic regulation becomes particularly important during growth factor exposure, which can lead to tyrosine phosphorylation of Fer and subsequent recruitment to receptor tyrosine kinase complexes that include p85. Fer′s functions extend to critical biological processes such as insulin signaling, cell-cell communication, and the progression of human prostatic proliferative diseases, highlighting significance in cellular regulation and potential therapeutic targets. Anti-Fer antibody (5D2C4) serves as an essential tool for researchers investigating these pathways and Fer′s role in various physiological and pathological contexts.
