    SEE ALSO...

FCP1 Antibody (3G4) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects FCP1 protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry (IHC), flow cytometry (FCM), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-FCP1 antibody (3G4) is available as the non-conjugated format. FCP1, also known as TFIIF-associated CTD phosphatase, plays a crucial role in regulating RNA polymerase II (RNAP II) during the transcription cycle. Specifically, FCP1 is responsible for dephosphorylating the carboxy terminal domain (CTD) of RNAP II, which is essential for the transition between transcription initiation and elongation. The CTD consists of 52 repeats of a heptapeptide sequence that undergoes phosphorylation at specific serine residues, which is critical for the recruitment of transcription factors and the progression of RNA synthesis. FCP1 selectively targets phosphorylated serine 2 and 5 of the CTD, and FCP1 phosphorylation is necessary for activity and interaction with the transcription factor TFIIF. Upon activation, the carboxy terminus of FCP1 forms a complex with RAP74, further highlighting FCP1′s importance in transcription regulation. Additionally, FCP1 has been shown to repress HIV-1 Tat-mediated transactivation, suggesting FCP1′s potential as a therapeutic target in the modulation of viral activity in infected cells.
