FAS-L Antibody (NOK-1): sc-19681

FAS-L Antibody (NOK-1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects FAS-L protein (also known as FASLG, CD178, CD95-L, TNFSF6, or Fas ligand) in mouse, rat and human samples by western blotting, immunoprecipitation, immunofluorescence, immunohistochemistry on paraffin embedded sections, and flow cytometry. FAS-L Antibody (NOK-1) is available as non-conjugated form and multiple conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase, phycoerythrin, fluorescein isothiocyanate, and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Cytotoxic T lymphocyte (CTL)-mediated cytotoxicity constitutes an important component of specific effector mechanisms in immuno-surveillance against virus-infected or transformed cells. Two mechanisms account for this activity, one being the perforin-based process. A FAS-based mechanism involves the transducing molecule FAS (also known as Apo-1) and FAS-L. Human FAS protein is a cell surface glycoprotein belonging to a family of receptors including CD40, nerve growth factor receptors and tumor necrosis factor receptors. FAS antigen is expressed on a broad range of lymphoid cell lines, certain of which undergo apoptosis in response to treatment with anti-FAS antibody. These findings strongly imply that targeted cell death is potentially mediated by intercellular interactions of FAS with FAS-L or effectors, and that FAS may be critically involved in CTL-mediated cytotoxicity.
