FARP2 Antibody (D-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a antibody that detects FARP2 in mouse samples through various applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). FARP2, also known as FERM, RhoGEF and pleckstrin domain-containing protein 2, is a 1,545 amino acid protein characterized by the presence of one FERM domain, one DH domain, and two PH domains, and exists in two alternatively spliced isoforms. FARP2 is predominantly expressed in the brain, lung, and testis, as well as in embryonic hippocampal and cortical neurons, highlighting FARP2′s crucial role in neural development. FARP2 functions as a Rho-guanine nucleotide exchange factor that activates RAC1, which is essential for the regulation of neurite remodeling in embryonic neurons. The interaction between Sema3A and neuropilin-1 leads to the dissociation of FARP2 from plexin-A1, thereby activating Rac GEF activity, which is vital for the repulsion of outgrowing axons and the suppression of neuronal adhesion. Notably, downregulation of FARP2 has been associated with autism, underscoring FARP2′s importance in neurodevelopmental processes.
