    SEE ALSO...

FANK1 Antibody (F-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects FANK1 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). FANK1 (F-5) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. FANK1, also known as fibronectin type III and ankyrin repeat domains 1 or HSD13, is a 345 amino acid protein predominantly localized in the nucleus and cytoplasm of testis-specific cells, particularly in pachytene spermatocytes and round spermatids. The presence of six ankyrin repeats and a single fibronectin type-III domain in FANK1′s structure is crucial, as these motifs mediate protein-protein interactions, which are essential for cellular signaling and regulatory processes. FANK1 functions as a transcription factor, playing a significant role in regulating gene expression during spermatogenesis, a critical process for male fertility. The gene encoding FANK1 is located on human chromosome 10, a region harboring over 800 genes and associated with various genetic conditions, including Cowden syndrome, which is linked to mutations in the tumor suppressor gene PTEN. FANK1′s ability to undergo alternative splicing to produce multiple isoforms further highlights functional versatility and importance in cellular processes.

Can FANK1 (F-5): sc-398026 monoclonal antibody be used to stain formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue sections?

    Asked by: jenniferc
Thank you for your question. Yes, FANK1 (F-5): sc-398026 has been validated for use in IHC with paraffin-embedded sections. We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining
