    SEE ALSO...

FAM84A Antibody (BA-9) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects FAM84A protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-FAM84A antibody (BA-9) is available as the non-conjugated format. FAM84A, also known as family with sequence similarity 84, member A or neurologic sensory protein 1, is a 292 amino acid protein that plays a crucial role in cell morphology and motility, particularly in cancer progression. FAM84A protein is predominantly expressed in the testis and exhibits 44% amino acid identity with its closely related counterpart, FAM84B. FAM84A protein is localized to a subcellular membrane region characterized by a lack of contact between neighboring cells, which is significant for regulating cell shape and movement. FAM84A protein undergoes alternative splicing, resulting in two isoforms, with Isoform 2 being particularly important due to phosphorylation on various serine residues. This post-translational modification is associated with changes in cellular morphology, further emphasizing FAM84A′s role in dynamic cellular processes. FAM84A protein is upregulated in several types of cancer, including colorectal, lung, pancreatic, cholangiocarcinoma, and bladder cancers, suggesting that enhanced cell motility may facilitate cancer cell invasion and metastasis.

Can sc-101207: FAM84A (BA-9) monoclonal antibody be used to stain formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue sections?

    Asked by: Randy McDonald
Thank you for your question. Yes, sc-101207: FAM84A (BA-9) is recommended for use in IHC with paraffin-embedded sections. We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining
