SEE ALSO...

EXT1 Antibody (A-7) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects EXT1 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). EXT1 (A-7) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. EXT1 protein plays a crucial role in the biosynthesis of heparan sulfate, a glycosaminoglycan essential for various biological processes, including cell signaling, growth factor activity, and tissue development. By forming complexes with EXT2, EXT1 is localized in the Golgi apparatus, where EXT1 contributes to the polymerization of heparan sulfate, thereby influencing cellular interactions and the extracellular matrix. Mutations in EXT1 gene are associated with hereditary multiple exostoses, an autosomal dominant disorder characterized by the formation of cartilage-capped bony protrusions, which can lead to significant morbidity. EXT1′s ability to rescue defective heparan sulfate biosynthesis in mutated cells highlights EXT1′s importance in maintaining normal cellular functions and underscores anti-EXT1 antibody (A-7)′s relevance in research and diagnostic applications related to skeletal disorders and glycosaminoglycan metabolism.

I used this antibody for western blot in mouse brain tissue, EXT1 overexpression cell lysate and an empty vector cell lysate. Why am I getting 2 bands between 115-125 kDa for the overexpression lysate and empty vector but not brain tissue?

Asked by: Smallat
Thank you for your question. It would be helpful if you could call 800-457-3801, allowing for a more interactive discussion of this and other related questions.
