    SEE ALSO...

ESD Antibody (A-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects ESD protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-ESD antibody (A-5) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. ESD, or esterase D, is a 282 amino acid protein that plays a crucial role in detoxifying formaldehyde, a toxic compound that can cause cellular damage. ESD is primarily localized in the cytoplasm and cytoplasmic vesicles, with high expression levels found in the placenta, kidney, liver, and erythrocytes. The detoxification process involves the oxidation of formaldehyde by alcohol dehydrogenase 5, which produces S-formylglutathione, subsequently hydrolyzed by ESD into reduced forms of formic acid and glutathione. This enzymatic activity is vital for cellular health, as ESD helps mitigate the harmful effects of formaldehyde while also providing energy. Additionally, ESD has the ability to hydrolyze various neutral ester substrates and may function as a cysteine hydrolase, although enzymatic activity can be inhibited by thiol alkylating agents. Genetic polymorphisms in the ESD gene can lead to decreased enzymatic function, potentially increasing susceptibility to conditions such as toxic liver cirrhosis, retinoblastoma, obesity, and autism.

I am using the LiCor/Odyssey system. Which secondary antibody do you recommend using with ESD (A-5): sc-514892?

    Asked by: jenniferc
We recommend using one of our our exclusive Mouse IgG Binding Proteins conjugated to CFL 680 or CFL 790. They are suitable for use with Near-Infrared (NIR) detection systems, such as LI-COR/Odyssey and other comparable systems. A complete list of available binding proteins is available on our website here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/browse/support-products-mouse-igg-binding-proteins/_/N-ecrety
