Ep-CAM Antibody (AUA1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects epithelial cell adhesion molecule (Ep-CAM) of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry. Anti-Ep-CAM antibody (AUA1) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Epithelial cell adhesion molecule, also known as tumor-associated calcium signal transducer 1 and MK-1, is a crucial monomeric membrane glycoprotein predominantly expressed in normal human epithelial tissues and various carcinomas. The human Ep-CAM gene encodes a 314 amino acid protein that exists in two forms, with the major form being significantly reduced when treated with the amino-glycosylation inhibitor tunicamycin. Ep-CAM is overexpressed in numerous carcinomas, making Ep-CAM a promising target for both visualization and therapeutic strategies in human solid tumors. The Ep-CAM structure features an extracellular domain with two epidermal growth factor-like repeats followed by a cysteine-poor region, which are essential for adhesive properties. These structural characteristics facilitate cell-cell adhesion and play a role in cellular signaling pathways, underscoring Ep-CAM′s significance in both normal physiology and cancer progression.

Are there any issues with using sc-53277: Ep-CAM (AUA1) mouse monoclonal primary antibody on mouse samples?

Asked by: Randy McDonald
Thank you for your inquiry. The use of mouse monoclonal antibodies with mouse samples is very common and typically poses no problem. To eliminate any potential cross-reactivity of an anti-mouse secondary detection reagent,we recommend using a directly conjugated primary antibody. Please contact our special orders department for pricing and availability of sc-53277 conjugates.
