Endomucin Antibody (V.5C7) is a rat monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects Endomucin of mouse origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and flow cytometry (FCM). Anti-Endomucin antibody (V.5C7) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Endomucin, also referred to as EMCN or Mucin-14, is a 261 amino acid protein characterized by a transmembrane sequence and numerous glycosylation sites, which contribute to its extended structure due to the presence of O-linked glycans on serine and threonine residues. This protein is predominantly expressed in vascular tissues such as the heart, kidney, and lung, and exists in two forms: an unprocessed precursor peptide and a processed variant known as Endomucin 2, which consists of 241 amino acids. Notably, mouse Endomucin serves as an endothelial antigen found in venous endothelium and capillaries, but is absent in arterial endothelium. The expression of Endomucin is upregulated during endothelial cell proliferation and in response to tumor-conditioned media or specific angiogenic factors like basic fibroblast growth factor and tumor necrosis factor-alpha. Importantly, the overexpression of Endomucin has been shown to inhibit the adhesion and aggregation of hematopoietic cells, indicating its potential role in facilitating the detachment of these cells from the endothelium during the early stages of hematopoiesis, which is crucial for proper blood cell development and function.
