Enamelin Antibody (2C12) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects the Enamelin protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-Enamelin antibody (2C12) is available as the non-conjugated form. Enamelin (ENAM) plays a crucial role in the formation and mineralization of dental enamel, a highly mineralized tissue primarily composed of hydroxyapatite crystals. ENAM is secreted by ameloblasts during the secretory stage of enamel development and is essential for the proper extension and organization of enamel. ENAM localizes to the extracellular matrix, where ENAM interacts with other key proteins such as Amelogenin and Ameloblastin, contributing to the structural integrity and functionality of the enamel matrix. Deficiencies or mutations in the ENAM gene can lead to hypoplastic amelogenesis imperfecta 2 (AIH2), an autosomal dominant condition that results in significant enamel defects, highlighting the importance of ENAM in dental health. Anti-Enamelin antibody (2C12) effectively detects ENAM, making this reagent a valuable tool for researchers studying enamel formation and related dental disorders.
