Emi2 Antibody (4B6) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects the Emi2 protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-Emi2 antibody (4B6) is available as a non-conjugated format. Emi2, also known as FBXO43 or ERP1, is a 708 amino acid protein that plays a pivotal role in regulating cell cycle, particularly in oocyte maturation. Emi2 contains one F-box domain and one IBR-type zinc finger, which are essential for function in the SCF (Skp1-CUL-1-F-box protein) type E3 ubiquitin ligase complex. This complex is crucial for substrate recognition and recruitment for ubiquitination, allowing Emi2 to target specific proteins for proteasomal degradation. Notably, Emi2 is required for establishing and maintaining oocyte arrest at the second meiotic metaphase, a critical process for successful fertilization. By inhibiting anaphase-promoting complex (APC) activity, Emi2 prevents meiosis progression, ensuring oocytes remain arrested until fertilization occurs. Additionally, Emi2 undergoes post-translational modifications such as phosphorylation and ubiquitination, which are vital for regulating stability and function within the cell.
