eIF4E2 Antibody (YB-18) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects eIF4E2 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-eIF4E2 antibody (YB-18) is available as a non-conjugated format. eIF4E2, also known as 4EHP, IF4e, 4E-LP, or EIF4EL3, plays a crucial role in protein synthesis regulation by binding to the 7-methylguanosine cap of mRNA, which is essential for mRNA stability and efficient translation. This 245 amino acid protein is ubiquitously expressed and belongs to the eukaryotic initiation factor 4E family, vital for early stages of translation initiation. eIF4E2 competes with eIF4E (member 1) for cap binding, and post-translational modifications, such as ubiquitination by ISG15, enhance eIF4E2′s affinity for mRNA cap. This competitive binding influences overall protein synthesis efficiency, impacting cellular responses to various stimuli, including stress and growth factors. eIF4E2′s role in translation initiation regulation makes this protein an important target for research in cancer and other diseases where protein synthesis is dysregulated.

Can sc-100731: eIF4E2 (YB-18) monoclonal antibody be used to stain formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue sections?

Thank you for your question. Yes, sc-100731: eIF4E2 (YB-18) is recommended for use in IHC with paraffin-embedded sections.
