    eIF2Bγ Antibody (F-7) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects eIF2B gamma protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-eIF2Bγ antibody (F-7) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. eIF2B gamma protein plays a crucial role in regulating protein synthesis in eukaryotic cells, functioning as a key component of the eukaryotic initiation factor 2B (eIF2B) complex, which is essential for exchanging GDP for GTP on the eIF2 complex. This exchange is vital for forming the eukaryotic initiation complex, which is necessary for recruiting the ribosomal subunit to mRNA, thereby facilitating translation initiation. eIF2B complex is composed of five subunits: eIF2Bα, eIF2Bβ, eIF2Bγ, eIF2Bδ, and eIF2Bε, with eIF2Bε subunit exhibiting guanine nucleotide exchange factor activity, which is enhanced in the presence of other subunits. Notably, eIF2 phosphorylation can inhibit guanine nucleotide exchange factor activity of eIF2B, a process dependent on eIF2Bα subunit, highlighting intricate regulatory mechanisms that control protein synthesis in response to cellular stress.
