EHHADH Antibody (D-2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects EHHADH protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-EHHADH antibody (D-2) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. EHHADH protein, also known as enoyl-CoA-hydratase:3-hydroxyacyl-CoA dehydrogenase, plays a critical role in the β-oxidation of fatty acids within peroxisomes, which are essential organelles for lipid metabolism. Specifically, EHHADH is involved in the L-hydroxy-specific classical β-oxidation pathway, which is crucial for the breakdown of very long straight-chain fatty acids. A deficiency in EHHADH can lead to the accumulation of fatty acids in the serum, resulting in severe neurological impairments and early mortality. EHHADH consists of 723 amino acids and features a vital tripeptide sequence at its carboxyl-terminus that is necessary for transport to peroxisomes. Interestingly, studies on EHHADH-null mice have shown that while there is a diminished response to peroxisome proliferators, there are no significant alterations in lipid metabolism, indicating that enoyl-CoAs may be redirected to the D-hydroxy-specific β-oxidation pathway for processing.
