    SEE ALSO...

EDA Antibody (3E12) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects EDA protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-EDA antibody (3E12) is available as a non-conjugated format. Ectodysplasin A (EDA) plays a crucial role in ectodermal structure development, and EDA dysfunction links to X-linked anhidrotic ectodermal dysplasia, characterized by hypotrichosis, abnormal teeth, and absent sweat glands. EDA protein primarily localizes in hair follicles and adult skin epidermis, co-localizing with cytoskeletal structures at lateral and apical cell surfaces. Such localization remains vital for proper ectodermal appendage formation and maintenance, as EDA participates in early epithelial-mesenchymal interactions essential for skin and hair follicle development. EDA structure includes a trimeric type II membrane protein configuration, featuring an interrupted collagenous domain with 19 Gly-X-Y repeats and a conserved motif characteristic of tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-related ligand family. This structural arrangement facilitates signaling pathway function and highlights EDA importance in cellular communication during ectodermal tissue development.
